Tel Aviv, in the heart of Israel, has been the target of projectiles fired from Rafah for the first time in four months.
Israel i strikes reportedly kill 35 Palestinians after sirens sound in Tel Aviv for the first time in months amid Hamas rocket attack
In a statement on its Telegram channel, the Hamas al-Qassam Brigades said the rockets were in response to “Zionist massacres against civilians”. “It’s a timely reminder that Hamas, which is a jihadist organisation, remains a military threat to the state of Israel,” Mr Frydenburg told Sky News Australia on Monday.
The IDF said it fired the strike at a Hamas compound in Rafah “under international law” and using “precise munitions and on the basis of precise intelligence”. High levels of conflict on Sunday have put into doubt negotiations for a ceasefire which were expected to resume in the coming days under mediation from the US, Egypt and Qatar.
Meanwhile, Israel’s strikes come just days after the International Court ordered the halt of military actions in Rafah and applied for an arrest warrant against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
