An expert panel has recommended a fourth coronavirus vaccine for its residents as Omicron begins to become the most dominant strain across dozens of countries.
Israel will offer a fourth dose of a coronavirus vaccine to its residents over"scary" data reported from scientists in different countries studying the Omicron variant.
"The state of Israel is continuing to stand at the forefront of the global effort to deal with the pandemic," he said in a statement. "We don't really have data yet on the level of immunity, like we did when we decided on the third dose, but on the other hand, there is really scary data out there in the rest of the world," he told an Israeli radio station.It's expected to be approved by the government in coming days.
COVID-19 infections are also back on the rise with 903 new infections reported on Tuesday and more than 1,300 on Monday.Residents aged over 60, work in the healthcare sector or are severely immunocompromised are told to get a fourth jab"immediately". It will become mandatory for Israeli's to show the pass before entering a workplace or a store that is larger than 100 square metres.
