The areas surrounding two hospitals in Gaza City and northern Gaza have repeatedly been bombarded for a second consecutive day, according to the UN. An Israeli government ministry has drafted a wartime proposal to transfer the Gaza Strip's 2.3 million people to Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, drawing condemnation from the Palestinians and worsening tensions with Cairo.

The areas surrounding two hospitals in Gaza City and northern Gaza have repeatedly been bombarded for a second consecutive day, according to the UN.

In its report, the Intelligence Ministry — a junior ministry that conducts research but does not set policy — offered three alternatives "to effect a significant change in the civilian reality in the Gaza Strip in light of the Hamas crimes that led to the Sword of Iron war".The document proposes moving Gaza's civilian population to tent cities in northern Sinai, then building permanent cities and an undefined humanitarian corridor.

The UN humanitarian office says 66 per cent of them are women and children and tens of thousands are injured. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency's Philippe Lazzarini stressed "the present and future of Palestinians and Israelis depend on it".He warned during an emergency meeting of the UN's Security Council that a further breakdown of civil order, following the recent break-ins at the agency's warehouses by panicked Palestinians searching for food and other aid, will make it extremely difficult for the UNRWA to continue operating.

It adds giving assistance to around 300,000 displaced people in 100 centres is "increasingly challenging" because of the intensity of air strikes and hostility. "Shelters lack the required medical mattresses and beds, causing ulcers and other medical issues that cannot be treated in sterilised conditions."The last three weeks have been unimaginable for the families of the estimated 229 hostages being held by Hamas in the tunnels under Gaza. But the Hostages and Missing Families Forum said this weekend, when Israeli troops entered northern Gaza, was "the worst" so far.

Yesterday, Yonatan said the escalation by the IDF over the weekend left him terrified for his mother's safety. "Thousands of patients and medical staff, as well as about 117,000 internally displaced persons , are staying in these facilities," the update reads.Republicans in the United States House of Representatives have introduced a plan to provide $US14.3 billion in aid to Israel by cutting funding for the Internal Revenue Service.

"I don't rule it out by any means but the skirmishing that's been occurring in the north of Israel with Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon and Northern Israel has been relatively small," he said. Executive director of UN children's agency UNICEF Catherine Russell told the UN Security Council an estimated 55 per cent of Gaza's water supply infrastructure needs repair or rehabilitation. She says only one desalination plant is operating, at 5 per cent capacity, and all six of Gaza's wastewater treatment plants had shut down.

"At no time and no stage was a warning given to Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding war intentions of Hamas. On the contrary, all security officials, including the head of army intelligence and the head of the Shin Bet, estimated that Hamas was deterred and interested in an arrangement," he wrote on his official X account.

But his posts over the weekend suggest Mr Netanyahu knows October 7 could represent the end of his political career. As investigations and inquiries loom, it remains to be seen whether Bibi is finally out of tricks.Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says officials "remain concerned" about Australians in Gaza.
