The disapproval of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s cosy relationship with Qantas has spilled to the crossbench as teals and Greens demand greater transparency.
Fallout from the scandal surrounding Prime Minister Anthony Albanese ’s first class Qantas flight upgrades has crossed the political aisle as the crossbench has piled onto the mounting criticism about political transparency .
“The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce ... Certainly we discussed the first flight from Australia to Dubai on an A380,” Mr Albanese said. It would appear unlikely Mr Albanese will discipline himself for his alleged solicitation of first class flight upgrades. “There are very legitimate questions to be answered there. It’s a terrible, terrible look,” said Senator Pocock.
“Sure you can abide by the rules of declaring things. But I think Australians want a greater level of transparency and accountability from politicians,” Senator Pocock said. Fellow Teal MP Helen Haines told ABC RN on Tuesday: “I think it’s really inappropriate to solicit gifts of any kind.”
