'It's about the hope of following England' - FA insist Three Lions going nowhere

But the FA has now released a statement, insisting that the plan is to continue playing a song which is “about the hope” of being an England fan.

It charted at number one in the UK, as did an updated and revised version – Three Lions ’98 – released ahead of the 1998 World Cup.

“England has a long history of releasing songs saying we’re going to win, which turned out to be wrong. So, basically, Three Lions is written from the point of view that we probably won’t win.
