Members of the Flemington-based guild say they stitch every day.
Every other year, the Courthouse Quilters Guild holds a Quilts in the Mill event at the Prallsville Mills in Stockton. The next event, the 16th anniversary of the show, will be held in 2024 on Sept 27, 28 and 29. The event will feature a display of hundreds of handmade quilts, door prizes, raffles, vendors, an arts & crafts boutique, and quilting demonstrations.The members enjoy the same pastime, sure, but their connection is more than their common interest in fabric and thread.
Although collectively guild members say they wish the craft was practiced more by young people, they agree that events such as QuiltCon and groups like the Rosario also noted that quilting has a lot of interest among engineers because “it requires so much precision.” “My mother quilted, but I have no memory of her doing it,” Accettola said. Esch said she has one quilt from her mother and one from her grandmother.
