Nathan Cleary has made it clear he isn’t looking for special treatment from referee Ashley Klein in Origin II.
“I don’t think he will in Origin, and I’m not hoping for that or preparing for that,” Cleary said about the likelihood of Klein penalising Queensland for late hits. Cleary recalled Burton training with the Penrith NRL side two nights before he debuted against Cronulla in 2019, with James Maloney suspended and Jarome Luai injured.in the sheds so he could take selfies with his idols Cleary and Maloney.Burton won the NRL Premiership with the Panthers last year before his move to the Bulldogs, and will look to rekindle his on-field chemistry with Luai and Brian To’o.
There has been plenty of talk about Burton being an extra kicking option to help take the pressure off Cleary and Luai. But Cleary pointed out it could be hard for him to unleash his lethal left boot in the centres.
