Business owners say the rules force their staff members into quarantine and are hurting the hospitality industry just as much as customers cancelling on plans amid the latest COVID-19 outbreak.
Mr Lambert echoed the sentiments of Mr Laundy when it came to how COVID-19 is treated, saying it appeared people were just as concerned about being forced to isolate as the case numbers themselves.
"I think that people are a little bit spooked and it has an effect on their behaviour," Mr Napoli said. Australian Medical Association president Omar Khorshid said he was very concerned about the number of Australians who would be infected with the new strain."All those people who are exposed to Omicron, who therefore have to be kept away from their work," Dr Khorshid said.
The whole economy will again be impacted if measures aren't put in place to contain Omicron's spread, the AMA warns.
