New Zealand's 40th prime minister Jacinda Ardern has revealed she will jet off later this year for her new gig after quitting politics.

Ms Ardern made the announcement Wednesday morning, following on from a previous commitment to do more “speaking, teaching and learning” in relation to her role as a special envoy to the Christchurch Call.

Ms Ardern’s semester at Harvard will see her furthering the aim of the Christchurch Call by engaging in collaborative research around generative AI technology that poses challenges to online safety. “Jacinda Ardern’s hard-won expertise — including her ability to bring diverse people and institutions together — will be invaluable as we all search for workable solutions to some of the deepest online problems,” Prof Zittrain said.
