ANALYSIS: Jackie Trad is not the big election issue the LNP were looking for

Although Queensland's Opposition has landed a badly needed political blow, the Palaszczuk Government is hardly stumbling.

What started off as a relatively minor matter — an inquiry by Ms Trad about the job grading of a school principal in her electorate — took on a life of its own as public servants broke their own rules and then tried to cover it up. CCC chairman Alan MacSporran quotes from the 31-year-old findings about the nature and challenges of the Westminster system of government."A system which provides the executive government with control over the careers of public officials adds enormously to the pressures upon those who are even moderately ambitious," he quoted.

The LNP has been running a social media advertisement accusing the Palaszczuk Government of "being only in it for themselves" and Opposition leader Deb Frecklington baldly declared on Thursday that Ms Trad "had no integrity".So, Ms Frecklington's main theme yesterday was about the Premier's leadership style.

"I spoke to the director-general of my department this morning about needing to look at those cultural issues that were raised, and I think first we have to await the outcome of the Public Service Commissioner's report," she said.
