The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect in Saturday's racially motivated mass shooting as 21-year-old Ryan Palmeter.
Palmeter, a white man, shot and killed three black people inside a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday before fatally shooting himself. He reportedly used a Glock handgun and an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle, onto which he had painted a swastika. He was also wearing a bullet-resistant vest.The sheriff's office confirmed Palmeter's identity in a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday.

Waters said of the suspect, later identified as Palmeter, at a press briefing late Saturday evening.Investigators said the shooter sent writings to federal law enforcement and at least one media outlet before the attack outlining his motives.
