Jacob Bertrand's favorite Cobra Kai season is the first one. '... I think that's just because of it was our first season, I have a lot of fond memories getting to meet everybody. It felt so like run-and-gun, and there wasn't this pressure around it...'
Jacob Bertrand reveals his favorite Cobra Kai season. Bertrand's character, Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz, was coming off a new milestone in the season 4 finale. He became the All Valley boys' karate champion, beating Robby Keene , and getting the chance to hold his trophy proudly. It was a sweet conclusion for a teen that has often struggled to figure out where he fits in, sometimes the bully and at other times the victim, but never quite certain of which role suits him best.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY That unsteady dynamic carries over into Cobra Kai season 5, which recently premiered on Netflix. Over the course of ten episodes, Hawk takes something of a backseat to the Karate Kid spinoff's other characters. But in one crucial scene, he suffers a difficult loss. Rather than lash out or lean into his villainous aspects as he might have in the past, Hawk takes the defeat in stride and helps his friends rally to victory in the end.
"I don't know if anything could top Season 1 for me, and I think that's just because of it was our first season, I have a lot of fond memories getting to meet everybody. It felt so like run-and-gun, and there wasn't this pressure around it, like we didn't think anyone was going to watch it. But I do love Season 5."
Bertrand is far from the only actor on a long-running to express a preference for beginnings. Dylan O'Brien, who played Stiles on Teen Wolf, also said that he prefers the first season of the MTV drama because of its low-stakes nature and fond memories.
As for the future of Cobra Kai, another season looks likely though that remains unconfirmed. If it is the case that the end is near for the Netflix drama, hopefully, Hawk will have a chance to step back into the spotlight and get some closure for a character that has helped to build the spinoff's success. But it does sound a little bit like, no matter what narrative arcs he'll get to play, Bertrand will always maintain a special fondness for those first run of episodes.
