James Garner's battle for his role in Everton squad as Sean Dyche faces decision

The central midfielder has performed well in his favoured position but Sean Dyche may need to exploit the 22-year-old's versatility once again after Ashley Young's red card

James Garner’s hold on his favoured position may come under threat for Everton’s trip to West Ham United.

But Dyche is also a fan of Garner’s versatility and Ashley Young’s red card in the Merseyside derby may force him into exploiting that once more. Nathan Patterson and Garner are the two most obvious right back options open to Dyche as he once again attempts to set up against a side that carries a threat from wide areas. He has also used Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey in that position since he arrived on Merseyside in January but both struggled - with Holgate now at Southampton on loan.
