Philippe Clement's side ran out 3-1 winners at Ibrox as the the Light Blues returned to action following the international break.
James Tavernier wrote his name into the record books as he grabbed the 131st goal of his career to help send Rangers back to the top of the Premiership.
With Ridvan Yilmaz out injured after straining a thigh muscle on Turkey duty, Borna Barisic was back in for his first Gers appearance since his bomb-scare display against Kilmarnock at the end of February. Todd Cantwell also returned to Clement’s line-up having shaken off the hamstring pull that had ruled him out for four weeks, while Abdallah Sima was also available from the bench after two months on the sidelines.
David Dickinson somehow missed the clearest of penalties as Nectarios Tirantes planted an elbow on John Souttar as they tussled for a corner. The telly officials, however, had their goggles on as they invited the ref for a second look. With seven minutes of added time before the interval, there was still time for Rangers to regain the lead and they did just that as Dessers got on a Cantwell cross to crash a fantastic header past Marshall. Clement’s men returned for the second half looking desperate for a quick third.
Ronald Koeman tops the global list but looks uncatchable having netted an incredible 253 strikes. Daniel Passarella , Fernando Hierro , Laurent Blanc are also ahead, with former Real Madrid ace Sergio Ramos’ tally of 135 the next target for Tavernier.
