A new behind-the-scenes trailer for Strays features Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx recording very R-rated dialogue for the upcoming animal comedy.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT A new trailer for Strays has been released, showcasing behind-the-scenes footage of Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, and the rest of the cast recording some very vulgar dialogue for the upcoming comedy film. Directed by Josh Greenbaum, the upcoming R-rated film follows abandoned dog Reggie , who teams up with a group of stray dogs to get revenge on his cruel former owner.
Ahead of the Strays release date later this month, ET has unveiled a new trailer for the film, providing a behind-the-scenes look at Ferrell, Foxx, Isla Fisher, and Randall Park recording some of their dialogue. In addition to showing just how much fun the cast had voicing their respective dogs, the trailer also provides a new look at Will Forte's Doug, Reggie's neglectful owner, who the actor calls "a horrendous person".
One thing that has become abundantly clear from the Strays trailer and marketing material is that this is very much not a movie for children. The comedy flick has earned an R rating from the MPAA for "pervasive language, crude and sexual content, and drug use." In addition to constant swearing and jokes about humping, the movie features a sequence in which Reggie, Bug, Maggie, and Hunter ingest some magic mushrooms.
While trailers for Strays stress the film's comedy, it also seems like the film could end up having a strong emotional core. Reggie is very much a dog that is neglected and abused by his owner, and he essentially finds a new, better family with Bug, Maggie, and Hunter. Early reviews for Strays will likely be released closer to the film's release date, but the project is already shaping up to be, at the very least, a fun, laugh-heavy experience with some familiar voices.
