The Jan. 6 select committee is temporarily backing off a request for about 50 pages of Trump White House records, even though the National Archives concluded the documents were relevant to the panel’s investigation

The National Archives concluded the documents were relevant to the panel’s investigation, but lawmakers chose to"defer" the request after talks with the Biden White House.

“We’re in a hurry,” said Rep. Zoe Lofgren , one of the Jan. 6 panel’s nine members. “We don’t want to get hung up.” Tim Mulvey, the committee's spokesperson, emphasized that the decision to defer the request was temporary. “This reflects a productive engagement between the Select Committee and the Executive Branch,” the official said.

Trump has made sweeping claims of privilege over all of his White House records and also identified specific sets of documents that he asked Biden to block from the committee. So far, Biden has rejected the bulk of Trump’s requests, calling the attack on the Capitol unprecedented and worthy of a fulsome investigation.
