Jannik Sinner has broken through for his first grand slam title in stunning fashion, coming from two sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 6-3 for the Australian Open men’s singles title. The numbers told the story for Medvedev, who became the first player to spend more than 24 hours on court during a single grand slam , as he faded late in an unfortunate repeat of his 2022 final loss to Rafael Nadal.

In the process the Russian unfortunately became the first player in tennis history to lose two grand slam finals he led two sets to love.
