Tony Abbott revealed Australia has been put on notice to serious 'dangers' of an emerging sovereign risk, after a Japanese diplomat issued Canberra with a dire warning.
Former prime minister Tony Abbott and Japan’s outgoing Ambassador to Australia Shingo Yamagami revealed concerns that Australia could lose its place as a reliable energy provider following the Labor government’s gas policies.
“That is why this recent development is a matter of concern to a number of Japanese trading houses, energy companies and steel companies.” “The risk that we will no longer be a source of energy security to countries like Japan if we don’t continue to develop our coal and gas resources and the danger of Beijing’s aggression towards its neighbours and indeed the wider world.
"I’ve been trying my best to convey those concerns to friends in Australia but hopefully I think these mutual efforts can get over these difficult times," he said.“Not only we are sharing values, democracy, the rule of law, human rights, the market economy, but increasingly we do share strategic interests.
