Kawasaki Heavy Industries has reportedly withdrawn from a multibillion-dollar project to create hydrogen from brown coal in Australia and ship it to Japan, citing procurement delays. The plan aimed to use carbon capture and storage technology to sequester carbon from the process.
A multibillion-dollar plan to create “clean” hydrogen from brown coal and ship it to Japan , led by Kawasaki Heavy Industries , is facing collapse due to procurement delays. The joint venture aimed to extract hydrogen from Latrobe Valley ’s brown coal and establish the world’s first liquefied hydrogen supply chain, using unproven carbon capture and storage technology.
However, Kawasaki Heavy Industries has reportedly withdrawn from the project, citing difficulty in procuring hydrogen within the required timeframe
