Experts have revealed that the Blackburn area is one of the worst places for Japanese knotweed growing close to your home.

Environet UK has used an online tracker to reveal where the Japanese knotweed hotspots are for this year, and parts of Blackburn and Accrington are the worst hit.In Preston, there were 385 occurrences within four kilometres. In Oswaldtwistle there were 243 occurrences within four kilometres, in Haslingden, there were also 243 occurrences. In Chorley, there were 202 occurrences.
Japanese knotweed, also known as Reynoutria japonica, is a part of the buckwheat and knotweed family and originates in East Asia. It arrived in the UK in the 1800s when it was considered an ornamental plant, but has since been considered a scourge in the country’s homes and gardens.
