The nation’s largest electronics retailer JB Hi-Fi was a clear winner from the COVID-19 lockdowns, reporting higher sales and profits that topped some analysts estimates as customers shopped online.
On Monday, the company said total sales for July grew 9.7 per cent, compared with July 2021 when sales fell 12.4 per cent due to lockdowns. Full-year earnings before interest and tax climbed 6.9 per cent to $794.6 million and second half earnings rose more than 33 per cent, driven by elevated sales growth and improved gross margins.
