Buffalo Sabres forward Jeff Skinner had a major reaction to a slash Friday night, and now he's facing the likelihood of a suspension.
The NHL's Department of Player Safety announced that Skinner would have a hearing Saturday for his cross-check to the head of Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel. The incident occurred with 22 seconds left in regulation when a scrum ensued after Buffalo goalie Craig Anderson covered the puck to stop play and reacted as though someone had hit his glove.
Skinner confronted Guentzel, who slashed the Sabres player. Skinner reacted with his own slash, a cross-check to the arm and then one to the head that bloodied the Penguins forward. Jeff Skinner just cross-checked Jake Guentzel in the head after the play and things are TESTY out in Buffalo
