RHOSLC star Jen Shah she's been keeping the world updated about her life behind bars via her online journal. Her biggest revelations so far:
to guilty for conspiracy to commit wire fraud in July 2022. The court then dropped the conspiracy to commit money laundering charge. “In 2012 to March 2021 in the Southern District of New York and elsewhere I agreed with others to commit wire fraud,” Jen said in court at the time. “I knew this was wrong. I knew many people were harmed and I’m so sorry.” In January 2023, the Bravo star wasto six and a half years in prison and five years of supervised release.
“I wanted to remember his embrace, his smell, his touch. I held his face in both of my hands,” she reflected. “As I looked into his eyes, tears streaming down my face, I told him he is the love of my life and I love him more than anything.”When meeting with the guards, they told Shah that she could not bring her release plan, contacts list, Quran or driver's license into prison with her so she had to give them back to her husband.
“The one item that made me feel instantly isolated was not having my contacts lists,” she said. “I didn’t have the mental bandwidth to memorize my family and loved ones' emails, addresses and phone numbers.”Jen shared that she made a connection with Kashanna, who goes by Special K. The two surrendered at the same time and navigated their new surroundings. One morning, Jen was too tired to get up for the “6 AM brown bag breakfast” so Special K retrieved one for her.
“I cried silently sitting on my top bunk bed last night pretending to fall asleep reading a book, but in actuality my chest was hurting as if my heart had broken in a million pieces,” she. “I laid in the dark alone with my thoughts of having to say goodbye to my family — to my sweet husband and boys.
“I keep thinking this is insane, completely ridiculous. Why am I here? I mean, I know why I'm here, but this just feels like someone like me doesn't belong here. I've never been in trouble before,” she recalled. “Then I instantly stop myself from going down this self-destructive path of thinking. I am here because of my bad decisions. I am here because I did this to myself and there is no one to blame but me.
