The ‘Friends’ star was accused of many things over the weekend as a social media ‘fiasco’ erupted after Jamie Foxx wrote about Jesus and betrayal by “#fakefriends.R…
Saturday over a screenshot of Foxx’s post. “I did not ‘like’ this post on purpose or by accident. And more importantly, I want to be clear to my friends and anyone hurt by this showing up in their feeds—I do NOT support any form of antisemitism. And I truly don’t tolerate HATE of any kind. Period.”
Aniston evidently thought she was doing the right thing in denouncing anti-semitism but she was accused of being premature in her condemnation of Foxx. He, meanwhile, deleted his controversial post and replaced itto the Jewish community. He also clarified that he wasn’t referring to Jewish people when he wrote “they,” Newsweek reported.
“I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post,” the Academy Award winner wrote. “I now know my choice of words have caused offense and I’m sorry. That was never my intent.” “To clarify, I was betrayed by a fake friend and that’s what I meant with ‘they’ not anything more,” the “Ray” actor continued. “I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended. Nothing but love always.”
Foxx quickly received an outpouring of support for clarifying his statement, including from the Anti-Defamation League, whose CEO, Jonathan Greenblatt, wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Truly appreciate @iamjamiefoxx reaching out and confirming privately what he also said publicly. His message of love for the Jewish community is crucial in this time of rising hate. We are stronger together.”
