We chat with MurderMystery2 director Jeremy Garelick (mrgarelick) about approaching the seuel as a stand along movie, working on famous locations in Paris, and upping the action ante for Adam Sandler & Jennifer Aniston:
Murder Mystery 2 follows Nick and Audrey Spitz after the events of the first film, which inspired them to open their own detective agency and become full-time private investigators. However, things aren't going according to plan, and the couple is struggling to get their business to take off. When the Maharaja invites them to his wedding, it is a welcome surprise for the couple, but then their friend is abducted from his own celebration.
Jeremy Gaelick: Well, thank you so much. I appreciate it. I don't know many good comedy sequels; I haven't seen many good comedy sequels. So when I had the opportunity to do this, I really wanted this to be a standalone movie. So I approached it as if you didn't need to see the first film. Jeremy Gaelick: I wanted there to be a ton of action in this movie. I love action movies and because I've been mainly in the comedy world, I haven't really had the opportunity. And when I wrote a lot of that action into the script, I was kind of hoping that people would like it. And they were like, "Great, we love it." And I'm like, "Okay, I guess we're gonna make this.
