in a video this morning, Mr Hunt sought to fast-track billions of pounds of savings in an attempt to get the public finances back on track and stabilise financial markets after weeks of turmoil.
But Mr Hunt said the abolition of the Health and Social Care levy and the stamp duty change will remain in place.and “will remain so indefinitely”. The cut to the basic rate of income was announced by Mr Kwarteng last month, which he said would benefit more than 31 million people. It had been due to take effect from April 2023.
“The biggest single expense in the growth plan was the energy price guarantee,” Mr Hunt said. “This is a landmark policy supporting millions of people through a difficult winter.
