Jeroen Weimar is expected to be appointed chief of Victoria's 2026 Commonwealth Games organising committee after announcing his departure from his role as the state's COVID-19 commander.
The role, which will be responsible for coordinating the Games' return to Victoria, is tipped to be worth more than $500,000 a year, theMr Weimar was appointed COVID-19 response commander in July 2020 after holding senior positions at VicRoads and Public Transport Victoria.

Picture: Getty Images Last week, The Victorian Department of Health announced Mr Weimar would step down from his role at the end of April. "We thank Jeroen for his contribution to the COVID response - particularly his dedication, leadership and many hours spent keeping the Victorian community informed and updated," it wrote.
