Allen Johnson noted, that comment"seemed to suggest" Brown thinks that Newsom — if he wants to — should run regardless of what Biden does.Brown's attempt was unsuccessful, and Carter himself went on to lose the 1980 presidential election to Ronald Reagan, another former governor of California.
