A Scotland jersey worn during the 3-2 win over World Cup winners England at Wembley in 1967 is expected to fetch up to £10,000 at auction next month.
Eddie’s jersey will go under the hammer at the Trades Hall in Glasgow, and online, on April 10. The No3 jersey, which comes with a photograph of Hurst commiserating his team-mates on the pitch, is estimated to fetch between £7000 and £10,000. “McCreadie was one of only a few players to swap shirts immediately after the match, when he exchanged with Sir Geoff Hurst, who can be seen in a classic photo wearing it afterwards. This shirt would be a jewel in any collection but for a Scotland fan it’s an opportunity to own a tangible link to one of the most iconic victories in Scottish football history.
Scotland won the Home International tie doubling as a Euros qualifier thanks to goals from Denis Law, Jim McCalliog and Bobby Lennox. The Wembley victory is also remembered for Jim Baxter’s keepy-uppy display, an iconic moment in Scottish football history.
