Australian sailor Jessica Watson will participate in the 2024 Rolex Sydney to Hobart race with designer brand Oroton to raise funds and awareness for Ocean Crusaders, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Australia's waterways from plastic pollution.

Record-breaking sailor and 2011 Young Australian of the Year, Jessica Watson OAM, will be setting sail on a different boat this Boxing Day. Announcing her partnership with Australian designer Oroton , Watson will take off in the brand’s spectacular Drumfire superyacht for the 2024 Rolex Sydney to Hobart race on December 26. They aim to raise funds and awareness for Ocean Crusaders , a non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting Australia’s waterways from plastic pollution.

In line with the partnership, Oroton has released a brand-new bag, The Everyday Tote ($85), to help raise funds and awareness for the charity. The stylish tote is crafted from 99.9 per cent recycled polyester spun from plastic bottles, with each bag repurposing approximately 33 landfill-bound PET bottles. Perfect for the office, beach, or the gym, this oversized tote is generous in size and has two double straps for comfort, plus an internal pocket to store essentials. And $5 from each sale will go to Ocean Crusaders. Watson gained international acclaim as the youngest person to sail solo and unassisted around the world. She is also the author of True Spirit, which was adapted into a Netflix film last year. “We are always looking for ways to innovate the way we work and one avenue for this is to find great partnerships and collaborations,” Oroton CEO Jenny Child said. “As soon as we met (Ocean Crusader directors) Ian and Annika, we were inspired by the work they do ... and a partnership felt natural. “We are excited to be able to support their mission to clean up our waterways by making a donation from every The Everyday Tote we sell.” Retailing for $85, Oroton’s Everyday Tote is the perfect bag for summer thanks to its chic style and generous size. Whether you’re heading to the beach or picking up some last minute Christmas gifts, this stylish bag is perfect for having on hand. Head to the Oroton website to shop the tote
