Certain airlines have strict rules when it comes to hand luggage, with both easyJet and Jet2 warning that passengers who bring oversized bags to the airport could face a hefty fee.
If you're planning a holiday abroad this year, make sure to double check your suitcase size before flying. That's because each airline has different rules for carry-on luggage, so it's important to check the baggage limits on your booking. If you break these rules, you could be charged up to £48 at the airport.
Birmingham Live reports that easyJet allows all travellers to bring a small cabin bag of up to 45 x 36 x 20cm on board. For example, the Chelsea Bag from luxury suitcase brand Antler is currently on sale for £84, down from £140. Remember, these measurements must include any wheels and handles. So if you're using a wheeled case, you'll have slightly less packing room.
Passengers who fly with Jet2 can also bring a small personal item on board such as a handbag or laptop bag but it must fit under the seat in front. Meanwhile, easyJet's rules say: "Everyone can bring one small cabin bag per person on board for free. It can be a maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20 cm and needs to be kept under the seat in front of you. That should be enough to bring all the essentials for your journey or for a short trip.
