Jetstar boss Gareth Evans has addressed the major health breach that allowed passengers on board a Melbourne to Sydney flight disembark without a health screen.

On Tuesday, just hours before the NSW border closed to Victorians, passengers on flight JQ520 from Melbourne to Sydney were able to get off the plane without undergoing a health screen for symptoms of coronavirus. The major health breach allowed some passengers to enter Sydney with no scrutiny.

“There was not a NSW Health official in the aerobridge. There should have been. People should have held the aircraft. They didn’t. The passengers got off. We followed them up as quickly as possible.”Jetstar Group CEO Gareth Evans. File image. “I can confirm that all members of the people who arrived, the passengers on that flight, were contacted and tested, except for five that are being tested today,” Dr Chant said.
