Jewish Labor MP Josh Burns has alleged Peter Dutton personally intervened to stop a senior member of the Coalition reading out his statement following the terror attack on a Melbourne synagogue.
Mr Burns fronted a joint press conference on Friday following the attack with Shadow Home Affairs Minister James Paterson and members of the Jewish community in an effort to "present a united front".
President of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry Daniel Aghion read out the statement on Mr Burns' behalf. "One of the many senior Albanese government ministers from Victoria should have been there to speak if Josh was not able to."
