The wave of pro-Palestine protests at Australia’s universities is having a major impact on the decisions of Jewish students, a Melbourne principal has revealed.

The principal of a major Jewish schools says year 12 students are picking universities based on"which campuses are safe for Jews," as University of Melbourne pro- Palestine protesters declare Israel "should not exist".

Picture: Carly Douglas. “They are selecting their universities in year 12 right now based on which campuses are safe for Jews to be on.” The line was part of a post from Palestinian-American blogger Mariam Barghouti, which the UniMelbforPalestine Instagram account shared to it’s more than 20,000 followers on Monday.

“What I think a lot of people might be unaware of is the vast majority, I'm talking close to 90 per cent… of the Australian Jewish community, their Zionism, their belief in a state of Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people, is an integral part of their Jewish identity,” Mr Sztrajt said.
