“If Jimmy Barnes can win Father of the Year, I'm a crack at the Brownlow . What is happening? I was livid,” the father-of-two joked while speaking on The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick on Friday.“I'm not saying I'm Father of the Year, I'm not in the top 10,000, but I'm better than Jimmy Barnes at being a dad.
By his own admission, Barnes did not acknowledge his eldest son and “ran away from being a parent” when David was born in 1973. David, who is now a high-profile TV personality and Today Extra co-host, was ultimately left in the care of his maternal grandmother while Barnes went on to father another six children.
