Comedian and TV star Jimmy Carr has revealed that he nearly died when he was just three years old when he was diagnosed with a life-threatening case of meningitis
Jimmy Carr has revealed that he nearly died as a child, as he opens up about battling meningitis. The comedian, 51, recalled the horrific time during an appearance on the podcast Where There's A Will, There's A Wake.
"I was three, I think, and I was always told it was very close to death," he said, before explaining how his sense of humour helped him through the terrifying time. "The doctor sort of went: 'It's going to be very painful.' And somehow I'd heard the phrase, and I went: 'You've got to be cruel to be kind,' in a little child's voice."
