Jing Lee is the latest MP to have left the ranks of the SA Liberals, and while her former colleagues have been much kinder about her resignation than about those of some of her predecessors, the party is becoming all too familiar with defections.
"I've been here for 15-and-a-half years and that was the biggest dog act I've ever seen," he said.That so-called "dog act" was a major blow to the first term Marshall Government.The latest defector 'left as a friend'
"Unfortunately for Jing, 15 years of politics has taken its toll on her and she's now decided to go in a different direction," he said. That doesn't account for MPs, such as Troy Bell and Fraser Ellis, who've left the party because they've been facing criminal charges. Ms Lee hasn't outlined in detail her reasons for leaving the party, but said what happened during the abortion debate was an "important factor" in her decision.
Not only has he lost multiple MPs to the crossbench, he's also lost the seats of Dunstan and Black in by-elections brought on by departing former leaders Steven Marshall and David Speirs.
