New data released by the National Skills Commission shows the number of job vacancies for nurses and aged care workers has doubled in the past three years.

There were more than 8,000 job advertisements for nurses in May and more than 4,000 posts seeking aged and disabled care workers.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has expanded the Pacific Labour Scheme to include aged care workers – enabling workers from Pacific Island nations to work in Australia to address skills shortages.Mr Albanese says he hopes expanding it will boost economies in the Pacific and help industries with skills shortages.
