President Joe Biden knows he has left his successor with a war with Russia – and maybe China.
In fact, with the Russo-Ukraine War raging in the east – a US proxy war against Russia, by any name - this year’s NATO summit should have been postponed.

The decision to re-energise NATO in the wake of the dissolution of the Soviet Union in December 1991, less compelling, was less thoughtful.Since 1949, NATO’s membership has increased from 12 to 30 members, with Finland and Sweden in the wings. In any case, there are at least 36 nations sheltering in the embrace of NATO, in the crosshairs of Russian revanchism and China’s burgeoning threats in the South China Sea and, of course, Taiwan – all seemingly inspired by the spirit of NATO’s Three Musketeers’ Article 5 – all for one, and one for all.
