Treasurer Jim Chalmers says he’s “not interested in a war of words” with John Howard as the former prime minister is someone who he “respects”, following heavy criticism of the government’s plan to make changes to superannuation.
The Treasurer’s comments come after Mr Howard said the proposed changes to the system’s tax concessions are “unsettling for middle Australia”.
“They wheel out John Howard from time to time to try and sure up Peter Dutton,” Mr Chalmers told Sky News Australia.
