Former prime minister John Howard has “praised” Opposition Leader Peter Dutton for opposing the Voice to Parliament, says Sky News Political Reporter Olivia Caisley.

“As we know, this comes after the Liberals last week formalised their opposition to the government’s Voice proposal,” she said.

“The Liberals do agree with constitutional recognition for Indigenous Australians but most Liberal MPs think that the Voice to Parliament shouldn’t be enshrined in the Constitution and should have more of a local and regional focus.”
