We chat with ViolentNight's dastardly villain JohnLeguizamo about why bad guys have more fun, Latino Christmas traditions, and his own early days on MiamiVice:
Santa gets an action-hero makeover in Violent Night, which imagines the jolly old gift-giver as the star of an R-rated thrill ride. David Harbour plays Santa, a bitter and disillusioned old man. He finds himself thrust back into action when his annual Christmas routine is interrupted by a hostage situation. A family led by a wealthy matriarch is held hostage by a group of criminals led by "Mr. Scrooge," played by John Leguizamo.
John Leguizamo on Violent Night Screen Rant: This is so cool. John Leguizamo, one of the great. Hello, how are you doing? You're an icon in my house, but you play a real Scrooge in this one. You've got a real reason for it, so you're not just an empty mustache-twirler, but is it a delight to get to play a bad guy?
You established yourself as a great bad guy from day one, in one of the greatest hours of television ever assembled: Miami Vice, season 2, "Sons and Lovers." That was basically the first thing you did, right? I just wish that the Hondurans and Salvadorans would stop bickering over who invented the pupusa. The Salvadorans say they did, but as a Honduran, I kinda have to stick with my side.
