EXCLUSIVE: Third sector organisations are concerned the SNP Government has gone soft on incorporating four UN treaties into Scots law.

John Swinney has been urged not to backslide on a new human rights bill on access to housing and food.

Other treaties focus on eliminating discrimination against women and racial prejudice, as well as protecting people with disabilities. “Strengthening our NHS, tackling the housing emergency, building more empowered and powerful communities, improving social care, and stemming the rising tide of poverty; the Bill can help to achieve the more just Scotland we all want to see.”

“We have been involved in Scottish Government working groups, and there have been three Lived Experience Boards where individuals have given their time to help shape the plans. Those people especially deserve to see the Scottish Government deliver on bringing forward a Bill very soon.”
