The uncomfortable truth for Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn is that they enter Thursday's contest with popularity ratings that would offer even Prince Andrew some cause for comfort | bevanshields
Of all the fallacies dished out during this election campaign, the myth that this week's poll will suddenly unite a deeply divided United Kingdom really does take the prize.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and Prime Minister Boris Johnson enter the election with low approval ratings. The Labour leader's position is particularly catastrophic. According to a fresh Ipsos Mori poll, just 24 per cent are satisfied with his performance compared to 68 per cent who aren't, giving him a net rating of minus 44 and the dubious title of the most unpopular leader of a major party going into an election since the pollster started conducting surveys in the Thatcher era.
The picture is also far from rosy for Johnson. While the Prime Minister has presided over a big rise in the Conservative vote since taking over from Theresa May, he has not managed to swing a substantial chunk of thebehind him personally. Just 36 per cent are satisfied with his performance and 56 per cent are dissatisfied, producing a net approval rating of minus 20.
