Salt’s performances in the Caribbean last December – including back-to-back centuries in the T20 series defeat against the West Indies – means he looks assured of opening alongside Buttler when England return there for the defence of their World Cup in June.His case has been helped by a solid IPL campaign for Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring 249 runs at an average of 41.50 and, more importantly in T20, a strike rate of 169.
On international form alone, there is no comparison between the pair. The Yorkshireman was man of the series the last time he played T20 cricket for England against New Zealand at the end of last summer. Jacks has so far failed to score above 40 in his 11 T20 international appearances.
