The Trainspotting star wrote as a caption for the image: “Today I qualified as a Firefighter 1 after a five month course at Suffolk County Fire Academy. The Firefighter 1 level of training involves a written exam, a physical fitness test and a medical exam and covers rescue and extraction, knot tying, fire control and other skills.The Firefighter 2 certification offers additional training in advanced rescue, fire control and other skills.

Sir John Major, meanwhile, described scenes that showed King Charles, then the Prince of Wales, plotting to oust the Queen as “malicious nonsense”.
