Jordan Neely's is the latest death of a black man that liberal activists have exploited for political benefit. They feigned outrage as if his death resulted from an act of racial injustice and bigotry. They used it to stoke the flames of racial discord and advance radical cultural and political narratives. They really don't care about Neely's death. In reality, they seem to care only that Daniel Penny, the man accused of killing Neely, is white.
The available details of what we know about the confrontation between Neely and Penny are also important. Joshua Steinglass, the Assistant District Attorney of New York City, said passengers on the train witnessed aggressive and dangerous behavior from Neely before Penny acted. "Several witnesses observed Mr. Neely making threats and scaring passengers," Steinglass said."The defendant approached Mr. Neely from behind and placed him in a chokehold, taking him down to the ground."
This isn't the picture Democrats and race hustlers such as Al Sharpton want to portray to the public. They want to weaponize Neely's death and Penny's actions as an example of racist vigilantism, despite the fact that most accounts and evidence show Neely was the aggressor. They want to vilify and condemn a white U.S. Marine veteran who stood up and acted when no one else would.
This doesn't mean that the U.S. doesn't have its racial bigots. It does — just like every other country, society, and civilization throughout history. However, racism, as a whole, has been on a decadeslong decline, even if the Left uses it as a tool for hateful, divisive, extremist propaganda and radical indoctrination. And deaths like Jordan Neely's are these Democrats' defibrillators.
