A Georgia judge says he did not conclude that Fani Willis's relationship with a special prosecutor amounted to a conflict of interest, however he said it created an 'appearance of impropriety'.

A Georgia judge has stopped short of disqualifying Fulton County DA Fani Willis from the election interference case against Donald Trump.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee said he did not conclude that Ms Willis's relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade amounted to a conflict of interest.Even before the criminal case against Donald Trump in the US state of Georgia was announced, the prosecutor leading the investigation was under intense pressure.

An attorney for co-defendant Michael Roman asked Judge McAfee to dismiss the indictment and prevent Ms Willis and Mr Wade and their offices from continuing to prosecute the case. The sprawling indictment charges Mr Trump and more than a dozen other defendants with violating Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, known as RICO.
