BREAKING: A judge has ordered the release this week of parts of a special grand jury report that investigated efforts by former President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn his narrow 2020 election loss in Georgia.
McBurney said the introduction and conclusion of the report, as well as a section in which the grand jurors expressed concerns that some witnesses may have lied under oath, will be released Thursday.
McBurney wrote that the report includes recommendations for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, including “a roster of who should be indicted, and for what, in relation to the conduct (and aftermath of the 2020 general election in Georgia.” The special grand jury did not have the power to issue indictments, and it will ultimately be up to Willis to decide whether to seek indictments from a regular grand jury.
“We want to make sure that everyone is treated fairly and we think for future defendants to be treated fairly, it is not appropriate at this time to have this report released,” Willis said during the hearing.

Georgia report on Trump's possible election interference should be released-judgePortions of a Georgia special grand jury's final report on Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the state's 2020 presidential election should be publicly released over the objection of prosecutors, a state judge ruled on Monday. The panel's findings, which have remained sealed since the existence of the report was disclosed in January, could potentially serve as the basis for criminal charges against Trump or his associates who attempted to reverse Democratic President Joe Biden's statewide victory. The decision on whether to file criminal charges ultimately lies with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
