Junior doctors in England are striking for five days from today - the longest walkout in NHS history.between 7am on Thursday 13 July and 7am on Tuesday 18 July.If you’re in hospital when the strike starts
If you're receiving treatment from a junior doctor when the strike starts, they have a duty of care to make sure your care is safely handed over.All hospital inpatients should be told how their care will be affected by the staff involved in caring for them.GPs and pharmacies are largely unaffected by the strikes, so you should still be able to get an appointment or health advice.
Patients should call 999 if there is a life-threatening emergency where someone is seriously ill or injured.A&E departments will remain open and emergency care will be prioritised during the strike, but patients are urged to access it only in life-threatening situations.People who need non-urgent medical help should visitIf you visit A&E on a strike day for a non-life-threatening reason, you will experience a longer than usual wait time and you may be redirected to a different service.
